Basic Mistakes of new Metal Detecting YouTubers

There seems to be a large increase in people wanting to make YouTube videos of their metal detecting outings and finds, which is great, it helps others, some make great content and it can be an additional hobby for the creators.
Obviously they are eager for their channels to get viewed and for people to enjoy their hard work.
Facebook looks to be the perfect platform to gain followers from, and they eagerly post their latest video across as many groups as they can, hoping to pick up new viewers and subscribers..

However, this can be one way to ensure that people WONT watch your channel, You have to remember that most people are in most groups across facebook. If you post your link across 15 groups, its highly likely that people will see your link 15 times in a row, if you do this every couple of days, you suddenly become 'not him/her again' clogging up their feeds. You are then likely to become viewed as a spammer, get thrown out of groups and generally frowned upon. You are not going to inspire people to follow you this way, yet so many people do it, and its got to the point now that many groups wont allow video links at all.

Other ways to make yourself unpopular is by only commenting on posts with your youtube links, which are nothing to do with the original posts, by sending your links via PM to all your friends lists and by not interacting in groups or people with anything other than self promotion and reference to your youtube channel.

Some people seem to want to make youtube videos purely for money, and having links all over your channels or live feeds for patreon, paypal and other money earning links can be very off putting, especially if you are only getting around 100 views per video. It makes you seem to be in it for the wrong reasons, and people can see straight through insincerity.

So what should you do?? There are lots of right ways to promote yourself in a positive way on your journey....

'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' Game Show Terror!

One evening, while the other half was boring me to death watching football, I decided to have a look at game shows and how to apply for one. I had always considered myself to be the font of all useless quiz knowledge, and so decided I might as well put it to good use and earn some cash!! I logged on and did a quick search, a few sites came up directing to me to tv channel shows and then 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' caught my eye! I was an avid fan of the program and had shouted at the TV for a number of years, "if I could only get my arse in that seat" so I thought I would give it a go and be a millionaire! The instructions were 'to write about why you would make the show interesting in 200 words or less' an easy task for me, the women with a writing talent, ridiculous surname and a colourful and random job CV. The content contained the theme of Chipchase (my name) having previously owned a chipshop (Chapel Chipshop) and my other side line job of being th...
